Our field competition, inspired by the Colombian show everyone grew up watching.
In Colombia, Desafío is the reality competition that has families glued to the TV: teams sent into the wild to face physical and mental challenges, week after week, until one takes the prize. We wanted that same energy at UF, minus the jungle, plus a lot of snacks.
Our version runs in a single day. Everyone who shows up gets placed on a team, teams pick a name and a color, and then we run through a bracket of challenges: relays, obstacle courses, water games, tug of war, and a few trivia rounds where knowing your Colombian music pays off.
It is genuinely one of the best days of the year for the club. Teams are mixed on purpose, so freshmen end up competing alongside seniors, Colombians alongside people who joined us last week. By the end, nobody remembers who won, they remember who they met.
We adjust based on how many people show up.
Sign in, grab water, and get assigned to a team. Come early if you want to warm up with your group.
Each team picks a name and a chant, then everyone runs the first qualifying challenge together.
Teams face off across the physical, cultural, and team pruebas. Points carry over, so an early loss is recoverable.
We stop to eat, refill water bottles, and let the playlist do its job before the last rounds.
The team with the most points wins, and we close with photos.
No. Desafío is open to anyone at UF, and plenty of people come to their first PorColombia event this way. Bring a friend.
Clothes and shoes you do not mind ruining, sunscreen, and a water bottle.
Not at all. Teams are mixed so every group has a range, and the cultural and team rounds are worth just as many points as the running.
Teams are assigned the day of so that new people are not left out. Come with friends, you will just be competing against them.
Desafío runs in the spring. We post the exact date on Instagram and announce it at our GBMs, and it goes on the calendar on our contact page once it is confirmed.
