North Florida is full of state parks, springs, and forest campgrounds, and most students never see any of them. So every year, usually in November, we book a group site, caravan out together, and spend a weekend cooking, hiking, swimming, and staying up far too late. The campsite and the price change year to year, so watch our Instagram for the announcement.
The trip is deliberately low-key. Anything could happen; a hike or a spring in the morning, food and games in the afternoon, and the fogata at night with music and whatever stories people feel like telling. It is the event where the club stops being a club and starts feeling like a group of friends.
You do not need to be an experienced camper, and you do not need your own gear. Every year a good number of people come having never slept in a tent, and we sort out tents, rides, and food as a group before we go.
We are very flexible, the only fixed points are leaving, eating, and the fire.
We gather on campus, load the cars, and drive out together so nobody gets lost on the road.
Tents go up as soon as we arrive. Then we play cards, soccer, and swim in the water if there is any. This is the stretch where nothing is scheduled on purpose.
We set up the food and gather around the fire for storytelling, eating, singing, etc.
Break down camp, leave the site cleaner than we found it, and drive back before the end of the day.

Not at all, a good share of the group is in the same position every year. We set up together and there is always someone who knows what they are doing nearby.
Let us know when you sign up. Between the e-board and returning members we usually have enough tents and sleeping bags to cover everyone.
We organize carpools before the trip. Say you need a ride when you sign up and we will match you with a driver heading out at the same time.
Yes, as long as there are spots left. Spots are limited by the campsite, so members and early sign-ups get priority.
Usually patchy at best. Download anything you need beforehand and tell your people you will be off the grid for a couple of days.
Group meals are covered by the trip fee. Tell us about allergies or restrictions on the sign-up form and we will plan around them.
